Just a few weeks ago we were all highly impressed with the new Samsung flagship, the S10 series. Not only do these devices now lead with cameras, CPU and ram capacity, they also have the features we’ve wanted for so long.
The new Huawei P30 released just a short while ago, which is yet another device we’ve been waiting for as the company has become the latest in up and coming mobile phone developers who’ve been giving both Samsung and Apple a run for their money while also coming in a lot cheaper!
Now, with the latest P30 on the shelves, it’s essential to compare the devices and see what’s available and which of these awesome phones are worth going for. Today, we examine the P30 Pro to the S10 Plus.
It’s quite surprising as both these phones feature a similar build and design. Both offer an aluminium frame, both offer curved displays, and both have an IP68 rating when it comes to water and dust protection.
The displays are similar as well, but there are some key differences. The S10 Plus provides a screen with 6.4 inches that have a vibrant AMOLED while the P30 features a slightly bigger screen at 6.47 inches with OLED technology, offering FHD+ (2340 x 1080). The Samsung has the upper hand here with resolutions of 2960 x 1440.
Now, about the camera nudges! The Samsung team have come up with something quite unusual as the camera is built into the display and features a light notch. This means there’s screen around it and it just looks like another icon in the notifications bar. The P30 has gone for a new design as well, offering the standard nudge forming part of the frame at the top, but it’s tiny and big enough to frame the camera. Here, it all comes down to what you prefer and what looks better.
Finally, we get to the things that matter, the parts that drive these devices! The P30 provides the Huawei Kirin 980 CPU while the S10+ features the Snapdragon 855. Both are extremely powerful and have what it takes to handle anything you throw at it.
It is worth mentioning that both phones provide ram of 8gb, but with the S10 Plus, you have the option of getting one with 12gb. The S10 Plus doesn’t include the mightly terabyte storage option along with the standard 128gb or the 512gb. The P30, on the other hand, is available in 128gb, 256gb or the biggest 512gb. It doesn’t matter what you choose as both also include the Nano SD card expandable option.
Here’s where the P30 stands out and shines brighter than just about anything else on the market, offering a triple camera as with the S10 Plus, but instead of the primary 12mp of the S10 Plus, the P30 features a massive 40mp. Even the ultrawide lens of the P30 beats with S10 with a 20mp vs the 16mp. Finally, the telephoto lens on the P30 is an 8mp while the S10 Plus strikes back with a 12mp.
